My Story

Taking a Passion and Creating Goals

My name is Jason Tristan Guajardo, and I am a graduate student at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi studying English, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas A&M University - Kingsville.

As a child, my perception of the world around me made it difficult to deal with stimuli such as noise or physical contact, which made verbal conversation difficult. While proper encouragement alleviated this over time, I never lost my sense of introversion and limited my speech to situations in which it was absolutely necessary to speak. Despite this, I found solace in stories, stories that I could enjoy in silence as my imagination painted vivid images through the words written on the page. After reading Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events, I was inspired to begin creating my own stories, hoping to create characters and scenes that could captivate an audience the same way I had been captivated by the stories and novels that I had read.

Throughout the duration of my undergraduate studies, I have written several poems, short stories, and reflective pieces, such as "In Working Condition," which I presented at the Signa Tau Delta National Convention in 2018. My goal is that by making my work accessible and open to feedback, I can encourage conversation among others with similar creative goals while also taking a step closer to achieving my dream of being a successful creative writer.
